"Computational Alternatives Vignettes for Place- and Activity-Centered Digital Services for Public Libraries"
"Computational Alternatives Vignettes for Place- and Activity-Centered Digital Services for Public Libraries" is a paper resulting from a collaboration between Daisi Yoo, Aurélien Tabard, Alix Ducros, Peter Dalsgaard, Clement Klokmose, Eva Eriksson and Sofia Serholt.
In this paper, the authors discuss a method for reporting experiments with computational alternatives, that is to say, the use of digital devices developed to illustrate unusual technical possibilities through in situ deployment. These tools are exterior to the habituated methods of current usage. The authors have proposed the use of a vignette format that describes a usage situation and its technical equivalent. This work was completed in the context of a deployment of PLACED prototypes in the DOKK1 library in Denmark.
